Procurement Engineer

Technical Specification Management
- Create and update detailed technical specifications for any external resources.
- Work closely with engineering teams to understand and document project needs.
- Ensure specifications are regularly updated to reflect technological advancements and project requirements.
- Analyse project milestones and requirements, ensuring vendor capabilities align with project timelines
- Identify and prepare alternative sources for long lead-time items or to achieve cost reduction goals.
- Ensure specifications are clear and comprehensive to facilitate accurate vendor quotes and deliveries.
Supplier Evaluation and Relationship Management
- Research and identify potential suppliers based on technical capabilities, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Perform regular supplier performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster strategic supplier relationships to ensure long-term collaboration and value.
Cost Analysis and Contract Negotiation
- Conduct thorough cost analyses of any external resources.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to achieve optimal cost, quality, and delivery terms.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce costs across the procurement process.
Quality Assurance
- Establish and maintain high-quality standards for procured items.
- Collaborate with the Quality Control department to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Address non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
Supply Chain Optimization
- Implement lean procurement practices to minimize waste and enhance efficiency.
- Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in the procurement process.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional improvement initiatives.
- Implement new technologies or processes to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation
- Identify and evaluate risks in the procurement process.
- Create and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
- Continuously monitor and report risk factors to senior management.
Market Research and Technology Tracking
- Conduct ongoing market research to stay informed about new technologies and industry trends.
- Attend industry conferences and trade shows to gather insights and establish industry connections.
- Share market intelligence with engineering and product development teams to support future projects.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Utilize advanced analytics tools to analyse procurement data and identify trends.
- Generate detailed reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) for management review.
- Provide data-driven recommendations to improve procurement processes and outcomes.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with engineering, finance, and production departments to align procurement activities with business goals.
- Participate in project planning meetings to offer procurement expertise and insights.
- Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial preferred).
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
- 1-3 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the automation or manufacturing industry
- Regular communication with external suppliers and vendors.
- Procurement and supply chain management software systems such as SAP.
